The Light That Shines in the Darkness

Writer's picture: Peggy MedberryPeggy Medberry

The story of Easter reminds me that the light always defeats the darkness. Jesus rose on the third day. Death couldn't hold him.

The world can look pretty dark and scary at times.  I remember, as a child sitting in bed in my darkened room, feeling afraid because I couldn't see around me.  But the wonderful thing about light is that it disperses the shadows.  It brings everything out into daylight. We can see what is in the corner, or realize that scary shape is really just a pile of clothes and a stuffed toy.

Jesus is that light. Yes, there are things in the world that are frightening.  But He is the light that disperses the shadows.  Again and again, I have to remind myself to look at Him instead of the storm.

Jesus is the Light that the darkness cannot overcome.
