An Afternoon with Jane   Oh, to eat chocolate cake  While wearing a white linen dress Sitting in the room where She wrote about life. Sipping tea Listening to clocks chiming A ghostly tune.   Oh, to believe for a moment That Jane Austen wants To hear about the latest Cinematic versions of her 200 year-old books. Giggling about why Darcy is everyone’s Favorite character.   Oh, to touch the quill She held in her hand As her mind turned to Carriages and balls, Love and loss And happy endings that She never had.
